This paper describes prototype software which operates on concordance output to locate all occurrences of repeated structures in a text, while eliminating all subsets of the structures found, all without requiring the user to specify which repeated structures are sought. Application of the software to Stendhal's novel Armance demonstrates that the frequency of the various lengths of repeated structures defines a zipfian relation. A typology of repeated structures in the novel is presented, based on textual proximity, predictability, internal structure and contextual insertion.
